Reference Verifier

Paste a reference list, with or without DOIs. Each entry is looked up in CrossRef and OpenAlex to see whether the work exists, to recover the correct metadata and DOI, and to flag citations that no database can find — the usual signature of a fabricated reference. Every lookup step is written to a log you can read.

1 · Paste your reference list

One reference per line (APA or similar). Entries wrapped over several lines are re-joined automatically. DOIs, where present, are detected and verified directly.

2 · Process log

Every lookup step is recorded live — what was searched, which candidates were found, and how each verdict was reached.
Log will appear here once verification starts…

3 · Verification results

Verified = confident match in the databases. Likely match = close match found, but details differ (check the retrieved record). Not found = no plausible match — possibly fabricated, though books and older or non-indexed works can also legitimately be absent.
