Terms of Use

Last updated: 14 July 2026

Welcome to Evidence for Impact (evidence4impact.org, the “Site”). By accessing or using the Site and its tools, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

1. Use of the Site

You may use the Site and its tools for lawful research, educational and professional purposes. You agree not to misuse the Site, including by attempting to disrupt its operation, circumvent security measures, scrape content at scale without permission, or use the tools to generate or disseminate misleading or fabricated research outputs.

2. Research tools

The Site provides browser-based research tools, some of which use artificial intelligence. These tools are provided as aids to human judgement, not replacements for it. Outputs — including screening suggestions, reference checks, extracted data and appraisal support — may contain errors and must be verified by qualified reviewers before being relied upon in any research, policy or practice context. You remain solely responsible for the accuracy and integrity of any work that uses these tools.

3. Intellectual property

Unless otherwise stated, the content of the Site — including text, design, graphics and code — is owned by Evidence for Impact and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may quote brief excerpts with attribution and a link to the source page. Reproduction of substantial portions of the Site's content without permission is not permitted. Third-party names, frameworks and instruments referenced on the Site (e.g., PRISMA, Cochrane, JBI) remain the property of their respective owners.

4. User submissions

Content you submit through the tools or contact form remains yours. By submitting it, you grant us a limited licence to process it for the purpose of providing the requested functionality or responding to you. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to submit any content you provide and that it does not contain confidential or personally identifying information about third parties.

5. No professional advice

Content on the Site is provided for general information and education. It does not constitute professional, medical, legal or policy advice, and should not be the sole basis for decisions in those domains. See our Disclaimer for details.

6. Advertising and third-party links

The Site may display third-party advertising (including via Google AdSense) and contains links to external websites. We do not endorse and are not responsible for the content, products or services of third parties. Your interactions with advertisers and external sites are solely between you and those parties.

7. Availability and changes

We may modify, suspend or discontinue any part of the Site or its tools at any time without notice. We do not guarantee that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free or permanently available.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

The Site and its tools are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy or non-infringement.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Evidence for Impact and its developer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential or special damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Site or its tools — including decisions made in reliance on tool outputs or Site content.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the Site's operator resides, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may revise these Terms from time to time. The current version will always be posted on this page with its revision date. Continued use of the Site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

12. Contact

Questions about these Terms can be sent via the contact page.
